  1. oh good luck! i still remember my first time on the freeway. Dont tailgate, try to stay out of the fast lane (Far left lane right next  to carpool lane) until your absolutely confident with your driving ability, keep your foot on the klutch/brake, just incase some fraudster slams on his brakes, but other than that relax! i find it easier than driving on the local streets

  2. if there is no traffic congestion-driving stick is no different than automatic. try not to drive during commuter hours- i actually find it alot easier on highways than local traffic. it gets easier the more you do it-remember when you first drove. keep alert, do not tailgate, do not talk on the cell phone,

  3. 1)  Make sure there's one car length between you & other cars for each 10 miles p/hr. This is especially important when raining or snowing.

    2)  Even if you are doing the speed limit, get in the right lane if people are passing you.

    3)  If you feel that you don't have full control, consider lowering your speed until you do.

    4)  Look in the mirrors frequently to see what others are doing.

    5)  ALWAYS use your blinkers when changing lanes so that others know what you're doing.

    6) Consider turning your lights on when the sky is gray; some cars seem to blend in & are hard to see.

    7)  Get onto the highway as smoothly as possible while continuing to accelerate.  Although most people will get into the left lane for you, not all do & it is dangerous if someone is entering a highway too slowly.  I was a passenger with a woman who came to a complete stop -- scary!

  4. There is nothing to worry about all you'r doing is joining other drivers on the highway. There will be other people driving in front of you and they also will be joining the flow of trafic on the motorway. You just observe the safety of the others and follow them. Just take it easy and drive safe untill you get the experience and confidence on the road. Goodluck

  5. Just dont stop when merging....accelerate right up to the speed of the other cars!

  6. Make sure to check your blind spots (the areas to the left and right of the car that you can't see with the mirrors). Someone can pull up right where your mirrors can't detect them, and you can switch lanes right into that person's car. You've got to physically turn your head and check that everything's clear.
