Stranraer, getting the ferry to Belfast then driving to Dublin. How long does it take to drive from Belfast to Dublin? Or would it be faster to drive to Liverpool from Glasgow then get the ferry from Liverpool to Dublin. Which route would be the best way to go? Any advice on this matter please.

  1. Your best way is from Belfast there is a new road right through, it will take about 2 hours

  2. Yeah the best way is through Belfast on the A1 which leads on to the M1.(2 to 3 hours depending on the traffic.)

  3. why don't you just fly??a lot quicker and easier.

but if you have to drive,i went to belfast a couple of weeks ago and in took me 4 hours to get there :(

  4. Belfast to Dublin-3-4 hours.

    = )

  5. This is a journey I've made many times

Stranraer to Belfast on Stena Line. There is a modern Motor Way from Belfast to Dublin, if I remember the distance is 95 miles

Trust this helps.. Glasgow Stranraer seems a bit of a drag though...have a good time!

DO  REMEMBER to take advantage of the M50  if going to southside of Dublin

  6. On a good traffic day it only takes about 2 hours to drive from Belfast to Dublin.

  7. yep, through belfast definitely.

it only takes about 2-3 hrs max (if u dnt drive snail-slow....haha)

    its a good road--

  8. It depends where in Dublin You are going. If it is the northern part of Dublin use the Belfast route. Two and a half hours will get you from Belfast to the northern outskirts of Dublin. Travelling through or around Dublin is a nightmare and will take you hours.

Personally I would travel to Belfast and forget about travelling to Dublin.

  9. It will take about 2 1/2 hours to drive from Belfast to Dublin depending on the traffic alot quicker than the 8 or so hours to drive to Liverpool from Glasgow.

  10. There's a new motorway takes you about 3 quarters of the way. Should take about 2.5 hrs all told if you drive from Belfast. BUT have a few euro on you as the motorways in Ireland have got tolls. Doesn't cost much but it's best to have a few euro about the place!
