Last time I visited my brother and sister-in-law in another state (I stayed for two weeks because I wanted to scout around to see if I wanted to move there. I was recently widowed.) they wanted me to buy my portion of the groceries and to help clean the house. I was a guest in their home and did as was requested of me. I also took them out to dinner several times. I had planned on doing that beforehand. They would hint about dinner, I could either cook it or get take out some nights when it was my turn. I guess they do this with all their immediate family that visit. Has anyone else had a similar situation like this? What are your views?

  1. Sounds pretty normal to me - you were there for a long time, so you become more than a short term guest. :)

  2. Had a nightmare relatives of my x come in from California with friends and stayed at our home. They expected us to foot everything and lay around while I played maid and took it for just so long an threw a fit. They kept comparing me to his first wife and were quite rude, I asked them to leave.
