  1. You can always play number 9  If your heart is in it you can do anything good luck

  2. Nope. It's rubbish that you need to be at least 6'4" and 200lbs (or 6'2" if you're scrum half) to play rugby.

Of course, the professional ranks are going to be filled with big guys, because this is their job and effectively they are paid to get bigger and stronger. Although, if you look hard enough, you'll notice a few stars who don't quite fit the mould (take a look at Shane Williams record, and then his physical attributes).

But when it comes down to grass-roots rugby, you'll be judged on your skills, not your size. I've said it loads of times before, in my club, we've got a second row who is not much bigger than you are (maybe 5'10" and 12 stone) and he is a real star for us, because he is absolutely awesome in the lineout.

Odds are, if you turn up at a local club (in a suitable division - you probably don't want to be starting off your in the game against top division players) you'd be welcomed onto the wing (nobody likes defending against a little whippet on the wing). You're fast and strong so it makes sense to me. From there, you can get a feel for the game and see if there's any other positions on the field you can offer yourself.

I'm not much bigger than you, and that's exactly what happened with me. I'd recommend you go for it.
