  1. Dude.  It's never too late.

If you want to go back to Technical, then take some time, look for a job that's the right fit and then go after it.  You have a Managerial job right now, so you're fine money-wise.  Just keep looking for a better fit.

If you want to stay in Managerial but hate the company your with -do the same thing.  Just work it while you keep looking.

But stop freakin out.  You're fine right now because you are employeed.  You'll be fine later because you'll find a job you like -as long as you keep looking for it.

  2. Have you spoken to your supervisor about the problems you are having adjusting to your new career position with the company?  You seem to take this "do or die" attitude without really looking at the overall scope of things.  You need to jot down what your job goals are and how to prioritize them.  There is nothing wrong with being in management.  You need to know how to manage effectively because if not, your job will be much harder and more difficult to handle.   If you seriously cannot handle being in management, the wise thing to do is step down and go back to the technical aspects of the job.

As far as your family, right now, I would not worry about what they think.  You need to think about YOU and your career first.  They really cannot be a factor in this.

  3. You are still in control of your life.

Is it just an adjustment period for you, and you are feeling confused, or have you really decided you made a mistake?

The best thing to do is to admit that to yourself, and think about what you really would like to do, and make planned steps to move out of the job you are in into the job you want

Best of all see it as a learning experience, don't kick  yourself for it, and work on the way you want to go.
