  1. Since you are filing the return of your own and not under any notice from the department you should use 139(1) and if you are filing with in 31st july use 11 and there after 12

  2. u/s 139(1)-- which says that you must file income tax return if your income exceeds the maximum amount that is not chargeable to income tax (which is Rs. 1,10,000 for AY 2008-09).

  3. 142(1) and 148 relate to returns filed after receiving notice from the Income tax department. 153(a) relates to search cases. 139(1) and 139(4) are voluntary returns filed by the assessee himself before receiving any notice from the department. 139(1) is for voluntary return filed before the due date as requiredunder tha Act. 139(4) is for  delayed voluntary returns. In your case, if you are filing the return voluntarily before the due date, it is 139(1).

  4. U better read the instructions given for filing the form

The section says about  revised Return or return after assessment order etc..

  5. You would select the option voluntarily before the due date. The section code is 11 in the e-forms.
