I am filling out my FASFA i need help?

I live at home with my mom and my steph dad. I work full-time and i pay rent /water bill and i support myself 100 % .... i DO NOT claim any dependent i am single...but i do live at home...but about 3 years ago i got denied ..what can i do on the fafsa where i can be qualified to get money because i currently just make 24,000 and i pay all my bills

  1. Anyone can qualify for financial aid regardless of income.  Three years ago you were probably denied grants (free money), but not other forms of financial aid like LOANS.

    You can't put anything on the fafsa (other than the TRUTH) to get money for school.  Again, you won't get denied, you will likely be offered Unsubsidized federal Stafford loans.  The free money (grants) is reserved for those who are extremely poor and you are not.  

    Also, it sounds like you are not married or over the age of 24 and don't have kids so you are considered dependent and must include your parents income.  (Doesn't matter where you live or if you support yourself or not).  And even if you did not have to include your parents income, you still would not qualify for the free stuff.  Again, you are not poor.


  2. You are a dependent of your mom and step dad. It depends on how much they make and you make combined. You might make too much to qualify. If you were independent then they might give it to you. The best thing you can do is talk to your advisers at school. They can hook you up.
