I'm using American Airlines for the flight, don't know which class my parents bought but its probably the cheapest. Im definitly bringing my Laptop and some books to read but will I eventually be bored to death, are the seats comfortable enough to sleep in? is the food good and is it expensive? I havent been on a flight in like 20 years and I was too little to remember it so basically I dont know what to expect.

  1. Last time i flew JFK to Tokyo it was only like 14 hours. I like to get a window seat so I can lean up against the side of the aircraft when I sleep and its nice to see the view. The only downside is that you have to climb over people to get to the bathroom. They should give you a meal as part of your ticket price and they should give you movies to watch. Now when I fly from JFK to Bangkok non stop, that was like 17 hours and it felt like an eternity.

  2. JFK to Tokyo on American will be, well, an experience =]  The seats in coach (the least expensive class) are not very nice on American; they are rather narrow and have minimal leg room, neither of which are ideal for sleeping.  You're going to wake up very stiff the next morning.  On the plus side, two full meals will be served on your flight and are included in the ticket price.  Depending on your aircraft, you might have a personal TV on the seatback in front of you so you can play games and watch whatever programming you like when you like.  Oh, and JFK to Tokyo will only be 15 hours, so that's 5 fewer hours of boredom for you!

Have a nice flight, and hope this helps! =]

  3. Travel Scrabble, mags, books, find the cure for cancer, sleep, bring your laptop and watch a few movies, watch a whole season of 24 or watch the inflight movie.

  4. laptop is good. you have plenty of time to finish up some work that you need catching up on, play a game or watch one of your favorite movies. also bring a music playing device, it helps with the noise.  bring some magazines or book you have been wanting to read.  also get a crossword puzzle, mazes, ect. If your in coach, sleeping isn't the most comfortable thing ever. lean your chair back a bit. listen to some relaxing music and take your mind off of things. that should help you get to sleep, if your tired enough that will be no problem! drinks and food come with your flight. airplane food isn't the best (it depends what they are serving), so if you want buy a snack or two to take with you after you get past security.

hope that helps your flight. have fun in tokyo!

  5. crosswords! sudoku! word searches!

  6. Bring a neck pillow, and ipod (if you have one), whatever activities you enjoy that are portable. If you can play movies on your laptop bring some of your faves. Plus they'll serve you food and drinks during the flight. The neck pillow will be invaluable to you on such a long flight. The seats recline back a little but without the neck pillow your neck will surely get kinked. I usually go and pick up some trashy magazines too. They make the time go by so much faster. Also remember to get up and walk around about every 2 hours or so, so your legs don't get clots. Have fun!
