  1. You are not too old for much of anything.  I say you should go for it if you can. There really is no age limit for learning the martial arts.

  2. Fourteen is an excellent age to begin training, and learning this art.Once you begin get serious, and dedicated. If you get discouraged just push on,and hang in there, all we be fine.

  3. You're definitely not too old. I started taking tae kwon do when I was 37.

  4. Trust me, you are NOT to old! In fact, I just started a martial art in January, and I'm fourteen too! In my opinion, judging by the other beginners in my school, this is the BEST time to start! We are still young, but old enought to understand and disclipine ourselves. Seriously, join up!

  5. 14 is not to young to learn Kung Fu. It's actually a good age to sign up. You're prabably old enough to take the adult class.

  6. No,I do suggest MMA to become a more well rounded fighter,I dont say this to put down Kungfu but,There are WAY more Mcdojo's for Kungfu then there was 40 years ago.  I just want you to have a True sence of Security.

  7. NO PROBLEM. There is no problem with being fourteen and learning kung fu. Here where I am, we're learning kung fu side by side at our informal kung fu school. I am one year younger than you stated, thirteen, and I am side by side with two fifty-year olds, one thirty year old, three nineteen-year old boys, and one fifteen year old girl. This is not a big issue by any means. You are definitely not too old, and not too young.

All the best in your kung fu studies. Tip: make sure you go to an authentic kung fu school. Good luck!

  8. As mentioned above, 14 is a great time to start because you are old enough to join adult classes but young enough that you will have much more potential for stretching and adapting physically to the demands of training.

Go for it, and enjoy your training.

  9. No, I'd say 13-14 is the perfect age: you're still young, but you're old enough to understand and learn martial arts concepts. I didn't start until I was 14, and I'm pretty sure Bruce Lee started around the same age.

  10. Firstly you are not too old at 14.

That is a great age to be and start, no doubt that through the passage of time once you reach a mature age you will have sampled a few martial art styles and will eventually find one that suits you.

    Best wishes :)***

  11. As previously stated there is no such thing as "too old."

Is there such a thing as "too young?" -- yes, but not "too old."

Some adherents even tell me that 14 is too young to obtain some of the full benefits of the Internal Martial Arts and the learning processes associated with them.

  12. Great age to start and certainly not too old. Should still have great flexibility at that age and should still have the speed and recovery power of youth on your side.

Go for it and best of luck!!!

  13. You can start at any age.  In fact, 14 is a great age to start because you're probably just old enough to join the adult class.

  14. You are not too old.  I recommend starting off with a basic martial art that will give you a basis for the rest of your live.  Such as traditional Tae Kwon Do.  Many people say that it is a bad style that does not hold it's own, but it is good to start with.

Don't do any martial art that is too hard on your body like Wing Chun.  It is bad for you at a young age.

    Good luck and have fun!
