  1. You will be fine. Just remember to pack some warm clothing! Try to think before you put clothes on. Don't just slap stuff on, but make sure it's warm. You'll adjust without a problem.

  2. Here are some good tips to survive in winter:

    1. Remember to dress in layers.  If it gets too hot you can always take a layer or two off.

    2. Invest in a good pair of thermal underwear.  Cotton ones work well but silk works even better.  Though we Americans get by well enough with the cotton kind.

    3. Invest in a good, down filled coat or a coat with thinsulate filling inside.  Make sure that it isn't too tight or there won't be enough room for air to get in to keep you insulated.

    4. You'll need a good pair of winter boots, preferably waterproof for those days when the snow piles up, and in Chicago it can get pretty high.

    5. Don't forget a good hat, scarf, gloves and earmuffs to keep your ears warm.

  3. i moved from southern florida to missouri. the first year i was there, i invested in a good space heater and a boat load of jackets and coats, and also a good humidifier. also, make sure you run your dishwasher as hot as it can possibly get to add humidity to the house

    missouri is a place i don't miss
