The Sunderland defender reiterated that he has recovered from his injury woes and is ready to play in the upcoming Tyne & Wearside derby.
One of the most hotly anticipated fixtures in the lower half of the Barclays Premier League, Sunderland against Newcastle United is always a cagey affair and has brought out the best in the players on many occasions.
And it could be the chance which http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carlos-c8346 Cuellar was looking for, after the defender overcame his earlier fitness problems in order to take part in the trip to the Etihad.
Although, Manchester City proved to be much too strong for the Black Cats, Cuellar will be buoyed by the fact that he escaped unscathed after the ninety minutes and will be fit for the crucial game with the Magpies.
However, he faces tough competition from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Titus-Bramble-c35166, who has become one of Martin O’Neill’s favourite players after impressing during the last few games.
Nonetheless, the centre-back remained optimistic and claimed that he was feeling ahead of the crucial tie.
Speaking to reporters, Cuellar claimed that he struggled against the reigning champions but considering that it was his first game since making his return, he will surely improve in the future.
"This is a good opportunity for me, it's a derby game. The City game was the first one I played after my injury, but now I've had a bit more time to prepare and I feel great. I've got my fitness levels back and we were very disappointed at City because after
five minutes we were behind to a free-kick goal. But we can take confidence from it because we hung in there and we were good."
Continuing, he added that the side have showed some great work at the back this term and now have the liberty to enjoy a well taken break during the International schedule, after which they will take on their potent rivals.
"We have already showed how good we are defensively and how good we are attacking. We've had the opportunity to have a break, to relax and prepare for the game on Sunday."
