I am furious!!! who can I report this to and do you think it will be taken seriously?

I have just come back from the park with my 16 month old son. We were only there a matter of minutes as someone had buried a large amountof dog poo underneath the bark chippings at the bottom of the slide. when my son came down the slide he landed in it and had it all up his legs!!

Why would someone do that? It is obvious that it was their intent for a child to land in it and it was on the baby side of the park that is fully enclosed by a fence and gate so the dog couldn't have just 'wandered in' and done it, the gate automatically closes!

I am SOOO ANGRY, i cannot believe that someone could be that spiteful and sick as to want to get a toddler covered in ****!! do you think it is worth reporting to the police or council?

its not that i dont like dogs, i have two myself but why do SOME owners insist on leaving it around, i wouldnt dream of it, i have even cleared up after mine using dry leaves when i ran out of bags...is anyone else sick of this?

  1. Of course you must report it to the police, the Council and Environmental Health.

Anyone who does such things is a danger to the public and must be stopped from doing it again.

  2. It is a modern disease children are so protected from there misdeeds at present that even if they were caught , they would laugh at the law and walk away from it with there finger up laughing ,  until the world starts taking hold of children and lets them know that there misdeeds will be treated with very stiff punishment ( HOLD ON I THINK I HEARD THE SOUND OF A PC FAINT) the broken bottles and razors will not be long in coming

  3. deff report it cuz thats just wrong

what if it wasnt dog poo but something worse like a knife or a razor blade?

  4. It's just kids playing a prank.. you can report it, but it won't do much good. Remember to check the slide before your kid slides on it next time.

  5. People will do anything for "America's Funniest Videos". I agree with you... this practical "joke" is not funny at all.

I think it is worth reporting to your city council or to the department that handles the upkeep of your playgrounds.

  6. You can call the police as that is disgusting and dangerous. Here near Toronto a few years back there was someone who hid razor blades and dirty needles in a park and that was taken very seriously. I mean , this is obviously not the same thing but it was clearly done on purpose...I would report it but don't expect them to try to catch the person. Its not really going to be a priority crime. But just get the word out there.

  7. Unfortunately, Poppet,

there is very little you can do!

This was obviously done by kids who really saw it as a prank, not realising the effects it could have. You could make the Council aware of this,in the hope they will take it seriously,

though if your Council is anything like mine,

they probably won't even log it!

You will just have to be more aware of the games children Play!

  8. take your prozac

  9. Some of these answers should give you an indication just what the youth of today is like..They have an arogance that borders on delusions of granduer. They also believe themselves to be invunerable (i'm talking about the bad apples not the general majority)..

Whereas once upon a time a pratical joke would be reasonably harmless things have got out of control now...I read here in denmark about horses, dogs, cats etc that are tortured to death in the most barbaric ways imaginable. A few have been caught and in every case it's been teenagers that do it...In my day such a kid would have been happy with pulling the wings of flys.

You have to bear something in mind.

Theres a social law that says the greater the number the further there is between extremes and the further there is between extremes the greater the variation...

I'm afraid this sort of thing is only going to get worse as the population grows.

You can console yourself with the fact that these same people will probably experience much worse when they become adults.

What you can do about it?, probably nothing. I doubt if the police would be interested and even if they was, what could they do?....Best thing is to simply start wising up and don't take things at face value......

Your poor son...I hope you didn't react extreme as that would only strenghten the bad experience for your son.

  10. You never know, maybe some wild animal got in there and did it.

  11. Hi

Yes i if were you i would report it to the council , at least next time the park warden can keep and eye out for people behaving strangely in the park . My guess it was a couple of teenagers thinking it would be funny but not thinking about the dangers of dog excrement on children .

Also tell other mothers what happened so they can also watch out for the sick person who did that.

  12. Yes defintiely report it, however, you may want to consider that it may not have been people who did this. If you live in an area where they may be moutain lions or cougars, well, cats c**p and then cover. Might not have been dog c**p. Which means there's a bigger problem. A call to the local fish and game might be in order.

Also, I have gotten in the habit of always checking below the slides when I take kids to the park. Not so long ago, there were a couple of 10 to 12 year olds who were caught placing broken bottles in the sand at the bottom of the slides. They were caught and severely punished, but ever since then, I check before allowing kids in my care to slide or even play on the jungle gyms. And I live in a very small town.

You just never know what sickos find as funny.

    Glad your son is okay.

  13. The Police or Councill probabally wouldn't bother with it, they have more important thing's to bother about like gun's,knive's,gang's and drug's. I would say it's more important to investigate theese then a kid with c**p on them

  14. Its not mine honest!

Sounds like silly kids playing a prank and no its not funny

  15. This is an extremely serious matter. It should be reported to the police forthwith. It demonstrates an intention to seriously harm a child as dog muck contains very nasty things. This lack of empathy may escalate. I have attended an incident of a nail being hammered up through a slide and the resultant injury. Do not let anyone tell you this is trivial. It is not.

  16. You have every right to be furious! Report it to everybody Police, local council and why don't you get your local paper to do a feature explaining the danger that this can pose to children then maybe some people won't find it so amusing. Good Luck!!!

  17. i agree.. maybe you should just file a complaint. if they get enough complaints they'll have to do something..good luck

  18. There are some disgusting dog owners out there who never clean up after their dogs as a dog owner myself I always make sure I have plenty of bags and wouldn't dream of leaving her poo, especially around or in a childs playground.people who leave poo make me sick as that makes it bad for all pet owners and pets get barred from certain areas that their owners like to walk in and enjoy. The laws on dog fouling should be enforced more rigouresly ie the councils should employ more dog wardens and give them powers to fine these people on the spot.It must have been awful for you today but I am sure that vandals must have deliberately put that poo at the bottom of the slide.Don't think officialdom will help you if you complain

  19. GOTCHA!!! sucker

  20. You have to let the department of parks and recreations know what happened. The least they will do is clean it up and put new  chips down and have the police do extra patrols in the area. Next time do some checking around the play ground before your kids play there. It's a sad world now a days.

  21. I dont think reporting to the police will do anything unless you know who did it. The police cant just magically catch the person who did it. even if they did thats a violation at the most. from now on just make sure you look at the bottom of the slide before your kid slides down, theres not much else you can do here.

  22. I doubt it was dog owners, i imagine it was some nasty kids that set the trap, id inform the council, if they run the park. I doubt there's anything the police can do, unless there is CCTV.

  23. I think you should definately report it to the council, perhaps send them an invoice for having to replace shoes, trousers, socks etc. As un-criminal as this is, it is still not very humane to treat a childrens play area with such disrespect. the council are responsible for the upkeep of these areas, so request a copy of the most recent maintenance and inspection report, it is a public service so they have a duty to maintain it. I dont think the police would take much interest, but the council should definately look into the matter further.

  24. Yes, contact the township. If nothing else, someone will come out to clean it up. I don't think there is any way to track down who did it, unless there are cameras in the park. You may be able to convince them to at least post a sign or maybe one of those boxes that has doggy bags and a trash can. But it's worth reporting.

  25. I can understand you're angry, but this does not sound like a careless owner - this sounds like kids playing a prank.

As a dog owner I get very angry when people leave dog mess everywhere (although equally angry at the hypocrisy of blaming dog owners for everything and never tackling the much bigger problem of littering, graffiti and vandalism) but if people won't go to the trouble of cleaning up their dog's waste, I doubt they would go to the trouble of burying or hiding it either...

You could tell the council and the police, but I doubt much will happen. If you see a park warden you could tell them and at least they can keep an area on the site.
