  1. My favorite for 2-3 rats is the Super Pet My First Home for Exotics. (I have my 2 female rats in this cage, and they LOVE it. They're chewers too, and I've had no issues with the plastic base, so that's a plus.)

Only 'negative' thing about it, is that it comes with a mesh wire wheel that'll need to be replaced with a solid plastic (Silent Spinner, Wodent Wheel, etc.) for safety issues.

It is $99 and well worth the price.

Totally get this one. It can hold up to 4 rats (just in case you decide to get one more!) Plus, they'll be able to grow into it. Don't listen to the first answerer. Never house rats in an aquarium! They have horrible ventilation, and if this is done, they will develop respiratory problems, which can be fatal.

Hope this helps, and good luck with your new ratties!

  3. do not get an aquarium. they are hard to clean and do not have enough air ventilation and also they do not have levels or ramps or something. i highly suggest a wire cage .. you can go to a pet store and get get a decent sized cage with a few shelves in it and it is nice four up to four rats. even better you should get a wire cage .. but not one with a wire bottom with a pull out tray . rats like to dig around in the bedding (not pine or cedar though) and with wire in the bottom they can't.. and their feet could get stuck and injured too.

  4. get a 10 or 20 gallon aquarium.. thats what i have always used and it can serve 100 different purposes with tons of different animals.

  5. I'm from Britain and we don't have 'pet-smart' here but 'pets at home' is the equivalent i guess.

anything similar to the size of this cage should be ok http://www.petsathome.com/find/keyword-i... this is for 2 rats but 3 could easily be kept in it.

or one like this is suitable for 3-4 rats http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/rodents/ca... hope i helped

  6. I've heard good things about this rat cage:

This is a ferret cage, but it can be converted into a spacious rat cage. If you have smaller rats, you'll have to get a little creative with some wire mesh to put in the cage so that they can't get through the bars. It's a bit pricey, but can be a wonderful cage:

Congratulations on the rats, and good luck!

  7. You need something with bars, so they can breath. Something with alot of toys and and climbing assessories so they dont get bored. Make sure there is penty of room to run around and stretch and have there own little spot thats "theres". There is a lot of good cages at petsmart that are good for them, just make sure it has-toys, room, climbing stuff, tunnels, and etc.

    Hope I helped. :)

  8. Petsmart cages are too small. Have you looked at http://www.guineapigcages.com/photos/sho...
