I am looking for some unique wedding decoration ideas....anything helps...We are getting married outside on a small piece of land while our guests look on from the balconys...the land is right along the lake also. So just small decorating ideas or anything you did at a wedding or saw at a wedding would be helpful!

  1. Hmm, try to go to walmart and buy the fish netting fabric, I believe it's like less then a dollar a yard. You can use it to drape things. Also  if you go to the party rental stores you can buy the plastic table cover paper in a roll. I've seen wedding designers use that to drape sealings and walls. It turns out really nice. Even better if you run lights through them. You can always go to the party rental stores and just rent stuff for really cheap. Good Luck

  2. my moms sister (my aunt duh) she had her wedding in a castle in puerto rico because thats where im from and the bridesmaids and me and my cousin, we all wore vales of flower with ribbon and it was fun and it was very flowery.

  3. I love the idea of candles for any wedding but especially yours since it will be in the evening and the crowd will be looking on from above I think it will look very beautiful and romantic for your area to be illuminated by candles. You and and your husband will shine!

  4. I was having a bit of trouble thinking of decorating ideas for my outdoor ceremony/reception as well but here are a couple of suggestions I have... lots of tiki torches (for a lighting effect) and flowy fabric hanging from the balconies (in your wedding colors) would be very pretty!! Good luck!! :)

  5. my main thought is " mosquito repellent"

  6. Try cute little stepping stones down the isle.

Just a few here and there, Nothing too big. ANd they dont have to be expensive!

That would look vey "Magical" as well as beautiful, And not bad for a cheap throw together!

    Hope this helps!

  7. Hi.  Oh...sounds really pretty.

Why not simply get an arch and decorate it with some silk flower "garland" like this:

OR...get some columns and place some flowers or plants on them like this:

You can buy the arches and the columns at craft stores like Michaels and Hobby Lobby.

    Good luck!

  8. When you say the guests are going to be looking from balconies, is this from a home or a hotel (resort)?  From what I understand, you are getting married on the land, not on a dock or pier, right?

Here in the South (not sure that's where you are from) late August/early September are what we call "The Dog Days of Summer", meaning it is so hot and humid, you can hardly breath!  If you are in the South, I would suggest having the wedding in the evening. But at the same time, there would be a ton of mosquitoes, so as a cute handout for the guests, cut maybe heart shapes or some sweet design out of dryer sheets! Yes, laundry/dryer sheets!  Maybe hole-punch and tie pretty ribbon in them to match the colors of your wedding.  Have someone pass these out to the guests so that they can keep them in their pockets or hold in their hands to keep the mosquitoes away.  Believe me, it works...at least it has in my experience.

Also, if it's in the evening...candles, candles, and MORE candles!  Let the bridesmaids carry a very small bouquet with a votive candle in them (in a glass votive jar of course). That would be a very elegant touch.  Plus pretty colors for the bridesmaids to wear are brown and light blue (almost like a turquoise). Brown dresses with a pretty turquoise sash around them!  It's a pretty color combo for weddings during this time of year. Also, you may be on a budget, but another pretty (and fairly cheap) idea would be to put floating candles in the lake with lit tealight candles in them.  Let them float in the background while you say your "I Do's".  I am going on and on and on here, but I hope some of this helps!  There are many options for you, and being outside speaks for itself sometimes!  The right backdrop and mood, can work wonders!  GOOD LUCK and CONGRATULATIONS!!!  I just LOVE weddings!

  9. that is where me and my finance are getting married as well, outside! nature is the perfect foundation for any wedding.... so you can steal part of our idea :) we are having it towards night fall and using just white tubing lights, of course you could use white x-mas if you so chose....plus the light reflecting on the lake at night would be breathtaking.... candles would also be a good chose.... and are more romantic and create more of a private feel. would definitely look at something for the isle....making it pop and that compliments ur surroundings and makes the bride walking down it really stand out to the guest above.... i hope this helps.... CONGRATS :)

  10. Try finding some white swans and you should talk about arriving in a canoe or some other type of boat that would set you off a little it would get peoples attention on you.
