  1. I recommend getting the dog that best suits your family situation. Considering looking at a series of puppies. Each one has their own personality and tendancies. Developing a list of things you're looking for in a dog, can make it easier.

For example, when I'm looking for a dog, I'm looking for specific things: intelligence, trainability, confidence, independence, and dominance. Obviously, you're probablly looking for a very different dog than I would. In fact, it is possible to find polar opposites in the same litter. So, make sure you spend time with the puppies before making a decision.

  2. contrary to common belief.

there is no difference btwn color and temperament or anything. its just a color. like you could be born more tan or pale than one of your siblings. its just a genetic trait.

blacks are really common. I would get a yellow and a chocolate :-)

or just ignore color difference and when you see the litter choose the one that you like better (temperment/playful/attitude wise)

    good luck!

  3. This may sound a bit strange, but the black labs seem to be more calm (now take into consideration, we are talking about labs here, lol) the yellow labs are a bit more energic, and the chocolate, INSANE, but beautiful!

  4. I love the chocolate color, but the important thing is health and personality!

  5. I love the silver labs which are a rare dilute of the chocolate.they have wonderful temperamentss and absolutely gorgeous. They are expensive though, usually around $1000.00 each.you can search them under silver labrador retrievers for sale.

  6. I'm in favor of Black.  I used to have one. Excellent dog and so easy to train. I miss her.

Muddy P: I agree, I'm paying the price of Littermates Syndrom.  Hard work.

  7. I like the chocolate ones.  Are you picking from a litter?   Visit the litter and play with the puppies and you will see who is dominate and will be harder to train and who is sweet and relaxed and will be loving and easy to train.  If they are young, handle them all over their bodies, ears, tummy, pads on feet and get them used to be handled and this also makes them smarter when they mature if you have them available when very young.

    luck

are you sure you want to start with two at the same time.

  8. I have heard that chocolate labs can be a little mischievous. They are supposed to be harder to train and can be very destructive.  Only hearsay i'm afraid.

Are you aware it is very difficult to train two puppies at the same time?

  9. From my own observations: Yellows tend to be bigger and more powerful, closer to the standard. Blacks tend to be smaller and furthest from the standard. Chocolates in between.

  10. smart dogs, id say black, they are the original color of labradors you know

  11. i perfer black or chocolate myself.

jsut some advice never Ever get 2 dogs fro mthe same litter, they will have such a strong bond that you will be luckly to even coem a close 10th in their eyes!

advice from all good traeiners & breeders, get 1 lab wait until he is fully trained & get the new addition at around 18months.

it will literally be such hard work with 2, triple and triple again from the same litter!

  12. I'd concentrate on getting the temperament that fits your family and lifestyle and not worry about color.  As the old saying goes, "A good horse is never a bad color."  Sometimes the chocolates can be more intense, as there were more of them from field trial lines.  But it's not an absolute.  Meet both parents and discuss with the breeder what you really want in a dog.  If you love to run 5 miles a day, that will take a lighter built and more active Lab than if you are a couch potato.  Be aware, Labs take about 3 years to mature out of the chewing and goofy puppy behavior.

  13. yellow is cute.
