he is 12inches long and about five pounds. i want to make a tortoise table before i get him. i have a 11x6x6 fenced enclosure. but from the pictures i have seen online, tortoise tables arent that tall or made of fencing. can i use my enclosure anyway or do i still have to make a tortoise table. for what reason are tortoise tables short and not made of fencing. is it so they dont try climbing and then fall on their back? also what should i include in the tortoise table? i have no experience with tortoises.

  1. i would build the table on the ground. you dont wanna risk ever droping it as it grows. just use cender blocks around the edge with ply wood inside to cover the bocks around. it needs firm solid walls, fence wont work, it will climb though. use 8x2 or something of that nature like you are framing in a concret job, good luck

  2. Most tables are low because tortoises can't jump or climb over the sides.  As long as he can't hook his front feet over the edge it will be fine.  Large sulcatas can push over a chain link fence!
