I am getting a turtle (MAJOR HELP NEEDED)

i have no idea at all how to take care of it so someone plz tell me

every thing in detail

It depends on what type of turtle it is. I have an eastern box turtle and she doesn't require much care. She eats worms, tomatoes, cantelope, watermelon and honey dew melon. They need to have access to water at all times. The bowl has to be deep enough for them to emerge themselves in water if they choose. I have had mine for 3 years now. Without knowing what kind of turtle you are getting it's hard to say what kind of care it will need. Is it a water turtle, terrestrial or land tortoise? Always good to do research before getting the turtle. Check out www.turtlerescues.org and www.austinsturtlepage.com for some good info on keeping turtles. One thing every turtle needs is a good uvb lamp like a T-Rex uv/heat lamp, so be sure to get that or one similar. They need a hot basking area and lots of UVB and those bulbs work great.

Do some research and find a pet store in your area that sells reptiles and ask there because they will also be able to sell you the products that you will need.

Just remember that they need to have water as well as land and the environment needs to be as natural as possible.

They need to be secure (high steep walls will stop them climbing out of their enclosure)

Also remember that they will be prey for cats and dogs if outside.

Aquatic turtles require..‘If you have allot of $$$$ and start out with a 60 gal plus size tank and great filtration system for Aquatic turtles I say do it!

They are the cutest!

Sliders, Cooters , painted ,map and yellow bellied are require the same care and feeding. I have two that are 36 yrs old!! Plus an 8 and 5 yr old.

I have had them in a pond for about 6 yrs now..

Did you know that they need to bask under a reptile light for  8 to 10 hrs a day for the vitamin D that  they need to grow.

Leave the heater on 75 to 78 degrees always.

Their water needs to be clean otherwise they get sick easily from dirty water cause they p**p allot.

You need a good filter system!

You need to feed them feeder guppies, goldfish or minnows for protein and calcium daily.

They need leafy greens for vitamins at least 3 to 4 times a week.

And a big tank 55 gallons or more..

wat u need 2 do is if ur gettin a baby turtle buy some baby turtle food at a pet store.2nd u need a critter cage whitch is about 2.5 maybe 4 gallons.3rd u need something like a fake or real plant in his lil house and that might aslo be a place 4 him 2 rest if not try and buy a lil play toy 4 fish but put in his critter cage after that well i cant think of anyting else so cya

Do your own research. Pet-store clerks are there to sell you all they can. You won't need most of it. Find out what kind it is and search online or go to the library.

BTW, don't panic if it doesn't eat for a week. If you want to get it started feed it small live earthworms.
