I am getting an iguana

Question

i am adopting an iguana and have done loads of reasearch!! j/w if there is any last minute info i could use?

I've found that many people adopt an Iguana, ignore it as a baby, and then wonder why when it gets bigger, it isn't the cool tame iguana they wanted.  Handle your iguana several times a day, EVERY day!  When I first got my iguana, I thought it would hate me forever, but just be patient =)  I promise it will come around.

Also, if you want a tame iguana, pick one out that doesn't run all over the place when you place your hand in the tank.  It saves you loads of time in the future!

I'm sure you already know this, but the most important aspect of keeping iguanas is their diet/lighting needs.  Do not feed them a commercial dry food.  No matter what, you must make yourself get up each day and chop/prepare his salad.  As for the lighting, just make absolute sure the light you buy has UV.  Not UVA (although a good basking lamp will have UVA), but UVB.

*Make sure you give it a well balanced diet!

*Do not give it anything hard cut up.. (Ex. Celery)

*It needs a good heat lamp

*If it doesn't get the attention it needs, it will be scared/aggressive
