I am getting birds flying through my fireplace into my house, how do I make this stop?

I have had about 4 birds fly through my chimney into my house this past week. They are cow birds. Website. http://www.pbase.com/drjaysel/image/58907020 . Why are they coming all of the sudden. Old wives tales say it happens when someone dies or when a baby is born and I just had a baby 2.5 months ago. Is there anything to this?

I had the same problem, but with bats! (And a sparrow one time!) It was not fun.  

I called a local chimney repair company they came in, and put a coupel new caps on.  They also cleaned and inspected the chimney while they were out cost me about $200.00.  But just call a couple componies and see if they will give you a free estimate first, then you can use your discretion on which company to go with.  

Now I am free of bats and birds, it was well worth the money! Do it before you wake up to a bat in your house!

(I highly doubt its due to the wise tale!)

No truth to the superstition.

Purchase a vent cap or spark arrestor for your chimney

simple.  buy a chimney cap for about $20 and install it.  problem solved.
