  1. Definitely not.

I had braces for a year & 6 months my entire grade 7 year, and some of my grade 8.

They're relatively painless, at times your mouth will become sore or your inner mouth may get torn because of the wires in your braces, but in the long run its totally worth it. You'll  feel alot more comfortable smiling when you get them off.

Just remember to brush your teeth a lot,  also make sure you ask your dentist for wax, it helps it you apply it to your wires it prevents it from rubbing or cutting your mouth.

The first week or so of having your braces you won't really have the strength to bite into any foods, stick with soup and jello, soon enough you'll be able to eat anything.

  2. Some days will be better than others.

My suggestion to everyone is always the same...take 2 Advil 30 minutes before each Orthodontist appointment.

The worst part about getting braces put on is the plastic piece that they put in your mouth to help keep your mouth open.  It kind of stretches your mouth so it's uncomfortable.

After some appointments you may be sore for a couple days but just remember that the end result is well worth it.

  3. I had braces for years. The pain is more like an ache after you have your braces 'adjusted'.  Take some ibuprofen and expect to eat soft food for  a day or so after you get the braces initially and after adjustments. Its a good excuse to eat ice cream all day :)

  4. Well the process to get them on takes a while.

    They'll hurt. Take Ibuprofin before.

Every six or so weeks you'll get a wire changed. Then they'll probably begin to use rubber bands to adjust your bite.

Your teeth will constantly be moving. It feels funny. Just stick to their rules and brush your teeth a lot.

  5. NO PROB BE PREPRED FOR SOME DISCOMFORT AND LOTS OF TIME AT THE DOCTOR'S OFFICE.
