  1. we got a really nice cake at Sam's club for our wedding. You can get a simple sheet cake from your bakery and have flowers added from your local flower shop to make it pretty.

  2. If you have a publix around you, you can try them. Their cake designs are amazing. The only thing is, I personally prefer their cheesecake and chocolate flavor, but you can have tasting samples before you make a choice. You can also try Walmart.

If those are really not good options, you can find a baker that is willing to work with whatever budget you have for the cake. You might think that you do not have lots of money, but can find someone who is able to work with you with whatever you have in your hands. If your wedding is within two months, you still have some time to make some good and less costly selections.

  3. Check out Sam's Club, Wal Mart or your local grocery store.  You don't have to have a tiered cake, just get one that's decorated nicely, and then get sheet cakes for the guests to be cut "behind the scenes".  I don't know how much you need, but it won't be as costly as a wedding cake.

  4. Try your local grocery store. They usually have cakes for a good price...

Or you can get a small round cake for you and your husband to cut - then get sheet cakes from Costco (about $14.00 each) for your guests. It would be much cheaper to do it that way

  5. How about a cupcake tower?  You could ask one of your friends or family members to help make them.  You can freeze the cupcakes and then frost them before the wedding.

If you can't afford the tower for the cupcakes, you can take a banquet table and put different sizes of wood underneath to give it a tower effect.  Then display the cupcakes on it, with your color napkins next to it.

If you have a Publix nearby they make beautiful cakes.  You could order a small one for you and your groom for the cake cutting.

    Best wishes to you!!

  6. Cupcakes are all the rave these days and that is something you or your family can do yourselves.  Get some mix and practice with a pastry bag and see what you can do.  Congrats!

  7. Cake it's one of the main things of the wedding, in a wedding sometimes we spend more in not necessary stuff, dont be cheep on this, it's gonna be in the pics for ever... and you wouldnt like the gests making bad comments about it. Make the balance of what it's really important in a wedding, what do the people pay more attention to which are... the invitations, your dress, your make up, the food, the flowers, and the cake.

  8. Go to a regular grocery store and order a regular kind of cake. Get a couple of them if you are having a crowd. Sam's Club/Walmart actually have pretty good cakes. Then, even if you got 3 cakes at $20/each, it's still a lot cheaper than a $500 three-tier wedding cake. You could also order a "Baby's first cake" size cake and use that as your special wedding cake for a topper. It's the structure of the wedding cake that pushes the prices so high. I also like the single cake idea because you could get different flavors if you wanted to. Also, if you look in a craft store like Michael's or ACMoore you can buy cake columns of sorts...separate pieces that you can put the cakes on at different levels.

You could also make your own cake. They even sell cake pans in different sizes so that you can make the stackable cake, but I wouldn't suggest it unless you are really skilled at that kind of thing.

  9. Make several, bake two at a time in your oven (your largest cake pans). Do not multiply your recipe by too much, I would recommend making no more than a 4x recipe at once, no matter how many cakes you need. Sometimes things don't scale up properly, and it's not the same.

I would suggest either a plain white cake or a basic chocolate cake (the ones made with Miracle Whip are often nice). Use a buttercream icing, and spread it with a spatula over the sides.

If you want to get fancy you can slice the cake into two layers (or layer thinner cakes baked separately) and fill the space between with either some sort of jam or with more icing. If you want elaborate decorations try your local baking supply store and see if they have preformed icing decorations.

    Best of luck!

  10. If you have time maybe you (or someone close to you) can make your own cake. Cake sheets or cupcakes can be made ahead and frozen and then frosted and decorated the day before the wedding. Here is a DIY wedding cupcake video: http://gettingrem.wbhdht.hop.clickbank.n...

  11. just get some white cake mix at ur grocery store and some white frosting. if u have food color then u can make the frosting match ur wedding colors. the cake is sumthing u can make the nite b4! good luck and congrats!!!!

  12. What do you do about your cake?  Logic says to eat it and give it your guests to eat.

  13. Find an artsy friend and ask them to give you hand in making it. My mom made a beautiful tiered cake for my step-sister. She is not a professional by an means. However, she does have that artsy touch. Just look around and give it a try! Good luck.

  14. order 1 tier a 6 or 8 inch and borrow or buy a cake pedestal. this will make that cake look and feel special. this is the cake that you would cut for pictures. then get sheet cakes for the rest. you can get them decorated and put them on the table with the tier or put them in the kitchen just for cutting. (the second is what i would do) this will save you tons of money and you still get the feel that you want.

tip: order that tier now or you may not be able to. i do wedding cakes and i require 2 weeks notice most of the time. so i would run out tomorrow and get it done.

    something like this

  15. Do you know anyone who is good at baking. The easiest and most cost effective option would be to ask someone to bake it for you. Like a grandma or a neighbour or your mum?
