  1. my sis in law did little goldfish bowls with a beta fish in each one and a colored coil holding a gerber daisy. it was very pretty centerpiece but it depends on your theme and how many tables and such. my sis did chocolates for her favors...lindt chocolate a ferrero rochet (or however you spell it)

  2. It does depend on your theme and the season and so forth.

I must say I like that sachet of flower seeds idea for a favor.

As for centerpieces, maybe pretty bowls with marbles at the bottom and filled with water (maybe colored water) and floating candles, and maybe some flower petals sprinkled in the water and around the bowl on the table along with a little shimmer of glitter/confetti.

You could also do birdcages as a centerpiece with possibly pillar candles in them and somehow decorated on the outer side with some moss, butterflies, white feathers around the cage...  Get creative with it.

You could do garden sculptures (angels, cherubs), garden lanterns, flowering plants in decorative pots (or evergreens decorated).

  3. Neat centerpiece idea:

Pyrex glass (cereal) bowls filled with decorative marbles and distilled water with a wax lily candle floating on top.

I wish I could say this was my idea... it's not.  I saw it at my sister's wedding reception and couldn't get over how very pretty and simple it was. She ran over budget in other areas of her wedding and cut it close on reception decor. I can't do it at my own wedding but if I could, I most definitly would.  She only spent $4/table.

Another thing she did was use tons and tons of clear holiday/christmas light strands.  The tiny ones.  She bought them off Ebay and stocked up when they were discounted after christmas.  She only spent $50 but we had enough lights to light up the entire reception hall.  Her mother in law bought a spindol of tulle and, with the lights woven in, it looked breathtaking.  Her reception photos came out better than her wedding.  And she spent 10x more on her wedding decor.

  4. Get a somewhat shallow but reasonably round glass bowl.  Fill it with water and float the tops of gerbera daisies on top.  They work wonderful because number 1, they come in so many colors, and number 2, they are pretty big.  Get little votive holders in your wedding colors and scatter a few of them with little candles around the outside of the bowl.   I always suggest the cute chinese takeout boxes as a favor for your guests to take cake home in.

  5. It depends on your style really, but one favour that I think is lovely is when the couple give some seeds in a little sachet with their names on it.  The idea being that everyone goes home and plants the seeds and their gardens are filled with flowers that remind them of you and your wedding!  You could choose the seeds that you like best and put them in a nice little sachet/envelope.

    Congratulations on your impending marriage!

  6. A cool favor that I've seen at a wedding that I really liked was a Mini Bottle of Champagne for every guest. It's a little smaller than a glass coke bottle & has the bride & grooms names on the label.

  7. I agree with others, favors are not really necessary.  However, if you choose to do them, you could get very small chinese boxes in your wedding colors and put little chocolates and maybe those wedding bubbles.

Centerpieces I would better be able to recommend if I knew your wedding colors, any theme, and the time of year you are having your wedding.  Something I think would look nice though are small glass jars (they look like flower vases only small, scalloped at the top), put stones or marbles that are clear (they reflect light well) and then a tea light candle on top of them.  Very simple, inexpensive, but also elegant and classy.  You could tie ribbon of your wedding color/colors around the bend in the glass.

    Good luck planning and congrats!

  8. I will suggest that you not put much time or money into favors because people never really seem to appreciate them that much.  They get left on the tables or forgotten.  The ones that go over the best are usually just some kind of candy in a bucket or bag...people eat the candy and then it isn't left lying around.

For the centerpieces, I would just look at a florist's website and then try to mimick their arrangement with fake flowers (although these can get really expensive...I found out it was best to just get them from the florist because they looked better, were less work for me and were only slightly more expensive.)  You can negotiate deals with the florist, but not with the stores that sell the fake flowers.

  9. can you bake?  make you own favors.  cookies, brownies, candies!  And pu them in little boxes.

for centerpieces it all depends on your colors, theme and time of year.  Floral arrangement and candles are always great.  Start there but make it your own!

  10. candles as center pieces are great!!! with rose petals on the tables around the andles!!! that is my second option..or u can try getting Large Martini Vases as center pieces

  11. When it comes to favours I thought of everything you could possibly imagin.  Baby trees, personalized shot glasses, personlized M&M's.  What we finally choose to do were fridge magnets with our pictures on them.  I really like the idea as its personable and everyone uses fridge magents.  Where as if you buy something etible no one remebers that.  I also think its a personal thing.  Good luck and have fun.
