I am getting married in june.Is it safe to drive to OOty for honeymoom from Bangalore?

This is my first drive outside bangalore city, what shud i worry abt?

Hope you are accustomed to driving on highways for long distances and on steep inclines on the ghats/mountains.

For the roads are narrow and with constant curves. only experienced drivers should take the risk.

Or take a driver on your up trip and relieve him, keep the vehicle for your own use and than drive down on your return journey. Of course, you will have to incur extra expenses for hiring the driver and his return journey expenses, which will be worth the decision.

Getting there

Air Nearest airport: Coimbatore (88 km/ 21/2 hrs). A cab from here to Ooty costs Rs 1,300 approx, but do negotiate.

Rail Udhgamandalam Station on meter gauge; nearest broad gauge railhead: Coimbatore Junction.

Road A smooth drive down SH17 to Bandipur via Maddur and Mysore. Bandipur segues into the Mudumalai Reserve across the border. Drive up some medium hairpin bends en route to Ooty via Gudalur.

It is an easy drive - less than 300 km and yes, you can do it.
