  1. i think december is a magical time in Switzerland... fresh snow covering pine tree forests, the smell of roasted chestnuts walking through any altstadt, the gluhwein, the Christkindlimarkt set up in the cities, Christmas decorations everywhere.  it's a nice experience, especially if you've only spent the holiday season in the States (in Switzerland, it's not as ostentatious and flashy as in NYC... it's more subtle, but authentic feeling).  the previous poster is right though -- it tends to be gloomy in the winter time when you're talking about major cities (which lie at sea level), which tend to be covered in an icy fog/cloud until about 1 or 2 pm (when you might get an hour or two of direct sunlight).  but up high in the alps, in the mountain towns, it's above the clouds and can be quite sunny for 8-9hrs per day (though there is always a chance of being caught right in the middle of clouds and falling snow even at 1200m above sea level).

personally, i prefer the winter time in Switzerland (but i have to admit that i hate any kind of hot/humid weather).  summer in Switzerland is quite stunning, particularly the grassy landscape dotted with flowers and cows against a brilliant sun and cloudless blue sky... but it would be more crowded with tourists.

  2. I live in Switzerland and recommend Barbados.

  3. I was born in Switzerland  and  I miss the snow a lot  but if I remember its not always  snowing in december  still its good to go there anytimes

  4. Depends if you want to sight see or ski it will be cold around 1 Deg C. Will probably be very romattic and beautiful. You could look on tripadvisor.co.uk for more info

    Congratulations

  5. I live in Switzerland and it's very nice in December. If you are wanting nice sunny winter days then go up the mountain, lower down in the valleys is very miserable at this time of year. There shouldn't be many tourists but the snow might not be brilliant though...
