  1. I just had mine pulled 4 days ago! It's really not that bad, or painful (unless I have an extremely high pain tolerance). Anyway, you will be numb for about 8 hours after surgery. Don't talk during that time, or you will bleed a lot (happen to me). When sensation comes back, that's when it hurts the most. I took vicodin, 1 tablet. You won't be able to eat solid food, so eat yogurt (without fruit) and ice cream. Stay hydrated! Drink 8 glasses of water a day! Don't eat hot foods because that will increase the swelling, which will peak on the 3rd day after surgery. You will get medication for the swelling. Brush and floss as usual to prevent infection. You will also get a medicated mouth wash, which should be used twice a day, and a syringe to (gross, I know) clean out the holes in your mouth when you start eating soft foods. Good luck and hang in there!

  2. it completely depends person to person. my sister in law was in terrible pain for a week and she was very swollen. i was put under and had no swelling and no problems at all! my husband didn't even get pain meds at all when he had one pulled and he was never bothered with it.

they will give you pain meds in case you need them and i depends on your swelling or pain if you'll feel up to hanging out with friends! best wishes

  3. i was just like you when i got them pulled 4 days ago. This was my first surgery.  I was put to sleep during it and you just go in there they talk to you for a while, then stick a needle in ur arm then the next thing you know you are awake and it is all over. I was veryyy tired but i didnt feel much pain. Keep ice on ur face all day!! that will make the swelling not as bad the next day. The second day my face was swollen and hard to eat cause i kinda had to swallow everything whole cause you cant chew with ur molars. On the 3rd day i hung out with friends but i would suggest not to cause it is very hard to talk and sometimes ppl cant understand you and it hurts to laugh or smile. But the pain is not to bad just very sore. On the 4th and 5th day you should be pretty much back to normal...good luck!!!!!

  4. It really depends on the angle they are sitting at - your face and cheeks and also your throat can be bruised and swollen - just take painkillers and rinse your mouth with salt water - all the best

  5. It's a considerable amount of pain.  I didn't have to have any of mine cut out since they popped right off.  I was fortunate for that but I was still in a fair amount of pain when you consider what I did.  So, expect to be chewing on gauze for the remainder of that first day.  Don't go to work or school and consider not doing anything more strenuous than sitting on the couch and breathing at your own pace.  The less you do, the faster you'll recover.  They'll try to give you advice on how to avoid 'dry sockets' (which is an infection) just tell them to give you a prescription for antibiotics and avoid the innevitable follow up phone call.  I almost got dry sockets but avoided it with that prescription.  And um...don't bother with your friends that first whole day...you're not going to be feeling very charming and your face will likely look like a chipmunk storing nuts in your cheeks.  Just chillax and you'll feel better in no time.

  6. LOTS and LOTS of PAIN!!!!!!!!!
