  1. Luck Sarah!

Know and write down his working heart rate and recovery times, so you can breeze through the vet stations. Keep a sharp eye out for course judges, who like to lay in wait at the top of hills and catch riders running up: then do a heart rate test lol.

A disposable camera,1gal Ziploc bag (can be a water bucket) power bars and electrolyte paste are a few must haves along with your baby powder, water bottles, bandanna and cool max underthings. Since it is your first ride of this type, watch the other riders for how often you should run alongside your horse, which is often a bit of a mystery if you haven't done it much. They know where the rest stations are, and  spare the horse to come in cooler for a faster time. Its not all about wining, but wouldn't it be fun to try!

  2. pace yourself!!!! and talk to her hahaha

  3. Hydrate! Bring small snacks for you and your horse!

  4. just take it slow and dont get scared because then your horse willl be too
