I am getting ready to replace my wood soffit and facia. My question is: which is better, vinyl or aluminum?

I would stay with wood at least it is a renewable resourse

I would use aluminum,as U.V. light deteriorates plastics over time...

It is easier to do a good looking job with vinyl. With aluminum, you often get kinks and bends in the material. Both are very long lasting.

use the aluminum vinyl will bow with heat, also does not work well on long runs

listen to Ryan i have seen aluminium after a couple of years at a school near to me. it is now being replaced Du to cracking and mushrooming from salt air.

Since soffit doesn't see much sun either would be appropriate it comes down to what do you want to work with

remember aluminum can become very sharp, vinyl well you never hear of too many vinyl cuts do you?.

One last thing Vinyl is usually cheaper.

vinyl.........it lasts longer, doesnt rust, and u can clean it with a hose..............it doesnt bend and crack like aluminum.........i sell the stuff so your answer is coming from a professional................
