I am giving a surprise dinner for 8 people for my boyfriends 24th birthday? any ideas for food, decoration etc

I would skip the decorations and just pick a color theme.  Maybe a few balloons at most.  The only "decorations" I would get would be for the bathroom.  Make sure you have hand wash and some towels.  You might want to add some spray and scented candles to the room.

As for food I would pick something simple and easy unless he's a foodie.  I think everyone loves pot roast.  You can throw a huge pot roast in one of those baking bags with the seasoning mix with potatoes and carrots.  Or a big tray of ziti (I like to mix mine with a jar of sauce, small container of ricotta, and half a bag of mozz cheese) with a side of sausage and meatballs.  

It seems easier to cook for eight people than you think.  But unless you plan on cooking during your party you should pick things that can just be left in the oven.

Food= samosas, sandwiches, powerbars, water, coffee/tea...

Decorations=  Groovy hippy colors and mist!!!

No need for decoration really. Spend it on good food and drinks. Also get those cool blinking shot glasses/cups. Guys love a good steak, ribs, hot wings with ranch & celery, fried chicken (Bel Aire, KFC, Churches chicken to save cooking time). Also make pasta salad, mash potatoes.
