I don't know if I will be able to take campus courses because I don't have anyone to watch the baby (most of my family is very busy). This means that I will be taking online classes. I wanted to have another child within the next 2 1/2 years. Is it going to be impossible for me to do this and go to school? I need advice from people who have been in school with children!!!!

  1. Well when I got pregnant With my second child  I was in my first semester. I took as many blended classes as possible. That way I could try and work hard while at home on my own computer, and then go to classonce a month.  But you really need to talk to your partner because he is really going to have to help you when he's home.

Good Luck it can be done if you want it bad enough!

  2. On line classes are great!! It allows you leeway to be a little more flexible in your schedule. It is NOT impossible. You will more than likely be very busy but it is worth it. Maybe you could start out with 1 class to get the feel of it, then decide what will work best for you.

  3. I was in graduate school when I had my son.  I finished my last semester when he was 3-7 months, taking mostly online courses.  Online courses are tough because you have to be extremely responsible and disciplined to do what you need to do on time.  I did my schoolwork at night after my son went to sleep, and sometimes with him sitting on my lap.  You baby is still young enough that you can work on school during naps and in the evenings.  Plus this would benefit your child more in the long run, I say go for it!

  4. my mother is a teacher, she had me I was like 3 1/2 years old, my brother and sister who are twins and they were about 3 months old and then she went to school on campus....so it can be done.

  5. well if you can't find a baby sitter then I would suggest taking online classes untill you find one cause most likely you can't take your baby to school

  6. I returned to school when my son was about 4 years old. I am a single parent and have had to take classes online in order to do this.

First of all you CAN do it and it may even be easier to arrange your schedule if you take classes online. There are a lot of goo universities and also maybe your local college offers distance study courses. Most do now a days.

It's absolutely worth it. On the down side there have been many long nights awake reading and doing homework, or time that I have had to take away from time with my son (usually during mid terms and finals) but I have found even having a family member watch him during these busier times really does help a lot....that is if you can find it. I really didn't have a lot of help the first couple years. I felt like no one took me returning to school and taking classes online too seriously. But since I've stuck with it i've gotten more help. I also wanted to have another child shortly after I started school but now that I am closer to graduating I am really looking forward to getting into my career and having a lot more time to spend with my son.

P.S. I've also had to work part-time so my schedule was basically like this.

    9:00am wake up

    9:30am take son to school

    9:45-3:30pm work

3:30 pick son up from school

4:00-8:00 spend time with son, dinner, etc....

8:00 - 12:00 reading lectures, discussions, and homework

trust me your life will be scheduled down to the second but you should pursue your dreams.

  7. Are there any schools in your area that have evening or night courses? If there are any, this may help you with someone baby sitting in your family.
