I am going on a 5 day backpacking trip in the sequoia national forest and i was wondering what are good water treatments for water that i might think are contaminated with e-coli and other bacteria?i heard that two drops of clorox per liter of water kills all the bacteria is this true?I have also heard of iodine tablets?what is better? something besides a expensive water purifier.

  1. well not sure about anything you talkign bout sorrry, but there are those pitchers that are bout $30 each and they filter water, they are disposable after bout a month.....

  2. First of all boil the water really well.Boiling kills a large number of bacteria. They are called water purification tablets, one tablet purifies about one litre of water. They are called Aqatabs, here in Australia.

  3. I use Pristine. I fill up my water bottle with water, then fill up a small lid with the Pristine solution, wait about 10some minutes for it to mix, then add it to the water, and wait another 15 minutes.

It's only two really small bottles, so it's super light and portable. And only one set of two is enough for about five people to share. It's about 30 dollars, but even with the long wait time it beats using a manual pump or something else.
