  1. You won't need much. For you personally you need to have a sleeping bag, pillow.

Between the 2 of you bring a tent, snacks, a flashlight (or 2), maybe a deck of cards or something. And good ghost stories.

  2. You really don't need that much stuff, but the more authentic you make it the more fun you'll have. A tent, I suppose is essential for some people, though my friend and I slept out under the stars on plastic sheets and I often made my own tents out of old sheets and plastic tarps when I was a kid. But a sleeping bag is the most important thing because otherwise you'll freeze. Pillows are nice since otherwise you might not be comfortable along with some kind of foam or inflatable pad unless the ground is really soft.

It'd be nice to have a fire but probably isn't permitted though I wouldn't think twice about building a safe cook or even bon fire on my own property if I had built a proper ring of stones or bricks or cleared the area of flammable debris and maybe dug a hole had a bucket of water and a shovel nearby and was sure it wasn't fire season and had my parents' permission. Lighting a fire and cooking your own dinner or breakfast is really a highlight of the camping experience.
