  1. Perter J nailed it. You have a great chance of catching cats, but chicken liver can be tricky. Bring a bag of dough balls just in case you get tired of losing livers so easily.

  2. yes,all answers are great , chicken liver works but can get soft on the hook and in a current can fall off, i would use beef liver or pork liver  first use dog food to chum the area, but please no cans or containers in the water. thank you

  3. Chicken liver is like the best bait for catfish! my friend is always raving bout it! he swears by the stuff anywhere he fishes

  4. It will work but some of those livers really stink

  5. I have caught a lot of catfish on chicken liver, and it works great.  They go nuts over the smell of the blood.  Just make sure to get hooks big enough to hold the chicken liver as the cats can get pretty violent when they get on hook and can cause you to lose your bait in the struggle.

  6. take a can of wet dog food ...cut holes all in it with a knife throw it out there. and cast out near it

  7. I've heard of people using Niel P's tactic but here's a few more pointers.  Try to find the deepest water you can from shore. Cats like deep. Chicken liver is the #1 Bait to catch cats but to be honest with you I have just as much luck using just regular old nightcrawlers. Liver just does not like to stay on the hook, specially when you have to make a long cast to get it out there into the deeper stuff. However, here's a tip: Take some regular old sewing thread with you. Once you have hooked your liver take the thread and  hold it down against a peice of the liver on the hook and start wrapping it around the liver, securing it to the hook. no need to tie or not it up, just break or cut off the thread after having made about 10 passes around the liver and hook.... good luck to you and tight lines... oh almost forgot, you do want the thread to be kind of tight around your bait but not super tight.

  8. yea you will my cousin fishes with chicken liver chicken blood it works

  9. john d pretty much hit it on the head another thing you could try is chicken hearts they tend to stay on the hook longer, depending on where you live you can also use treble hooks which hold bait really well and if you using dough you can get the ones with the springs on it to hold the dough better, but can be a real pain to remove the hook. dog food is also a good attractant you can use cans like some one suggested and poke holes in you can also use dry dog food put in a old sock although they can be caught all times of day ive found that night time is the best i hope this post helps  feal free to email me with any questions or just to let me know how it went   good luck

  10. sure, but bring back up--- worms or commercial stinkbait

  11. As stated Chicken liver doesn't hold up well  in the water... I have very good luck with cut bait -mackerell is awesome since it has a strong scent - if you can't find any frozen in the freezer at your grocery store....otherwise if you catch a bluegill or perch and cut it up into pieces - big pieces - but make sure you make it bleed. With a sinker heavy enough to get your bait to the bottom and a good strong hook....

I normally don't use a hook at all if I don't need one to get it to the bottom.
