I am from the USA and I am looking to take a class in Montevideo for 1 month. An intense spanish course. He estudiado espanol por dos anyos <~ (yo se que yo deletreado anyo incorrecto) jaja

De todos modos, Si he recibido mi licenciatura en finanzas y cuando termine mi clase quiero encontrar un trabajo alla. No me importa si gano mucho dinero. Solo quiero la experiencia.

I just want to find a job in Uruguay. Either in business or teaching english.. i really dont even know where to start with this. i just graduated college and my mom is paying for me to go down there but after the class i want tobe able to get a job. Does anyone know if i have to talk 2 the US Embassy first or what not? Me encanta Uruguay y yo quiero hablar perfectamente.

  1. I suggest you trying in the hotels in montevideo or in PUNTA del ESTE ( las vegas style casinos ) I think there are 3 in that town !!!

the conrad hotel is the first you should apply for ( I know they got Americans working in there).

your chances will be bigger in that town because of the tourism industry plus that is where the party is in summer time !!!you will love this place man!!!!

  2. Hi.........

i'm uruguayan and live in uruguay.. I agree with some of which the other answerers said about the touristic area. Conrad Hotel in Punta del Este can offer you some job, specially if you dont care so much about the salary.

Punta del Este is a very nice small city, that lives mainly from tourists.

Even, you can contact in Montevideo the Alianza Uruguay - Estados Unidos, bcoz they have native american speakers teachers there.

Even.........why not go to the US Embassy?? They have a better knowledge about the opportunities here and can give you some advice.

Anyways.....I know that you'll like my country so much, bcoz is friendly, pple is nice and polite and you'll feel as in your own place.

Welcome........ Bienvenido a mi pais !!!

  3. My advise would be that once you are there, start contacting people via the newspaper and browse all job offerings. Montevideo is not a large, huge city so being bilingual and having a degree in finances could work to your advantage. I dont see why you need to contact the american embassy for a job. I would contact them after you get the job to check on your immigration status. The best way to get a job in a foreign country is to leave your cv in as many places as possible and contact as many people as possible. However, it all depends on your qualifications. You can try the tourism industry, maybe you could work in the admin part of an hotel. That could be a good place to start.
