  1. You can go to Coquitlam town centre in the big parking lot and practice in a corner of the mall lot (close to the curbs). I think that is the name of the mall...the one with T & T or if you are closer to Lougheed you can go to a side street near the Casino and Home Depot and practice there. The basics for parallel parking is to see your spot ahead of time or listen to your instructor where he wants you to park. Secondly approach the spot and slow down. Put your signal on to alert other motorists that you are turning into that parking spot. Third, stop just in front of the chosen spot, look in your mirrors, look behind you and make sure that other traffic has given you room to back up safely, fourthly, put the car in reverse, and the procedd to back up while turning the wheel into the spot. Make sure that you leave enough turn distance so that you do not strike the vehicle parked ahead of you. Then when you have backed into the spot at an angle, cut the front wheels in sharply to straighten out the car. Make sure that you do not hit the vehicle behind you also. When you are in the spot, you can straighten the car out. Hope this helps. Saying it is actually more difficult than doing it.
