Question:

I am going into forestry in august... i was wondering what kinds of jobs i can ecpect to find after graduation

i know this is what i want to do i just dont know what i really want to do with the degree so i need to know what are some options i might have once i am done. i am also majoring in environmental science so any suggestions there would help too!! thanks

  2. I think that all of the answers so far are accurate and good ones. You can do anything from being a generalist with a bachelors to getting more specific with a masters. With a bachelors, you can go into being a Ranger at a forest either through the US Forest Service, state or local forests through their Department of Natural Resources (or the like).  If you go onto USA Jobs (which shows federal jobs), you can type in Forestry and see exactly what types of positions are out there including required education and experience.

  3. My Dad majored in Forestry, and started a NATIVE nursery business, and went out on projects are restores areas.

  4. You might be able to find employment with a government agency (US Forest Service, US Fish and Wildlife Service,etc), or with an environmental consultant firm or non-profit organization.
