  1. I just booked the Valor for December , I used this website below for all my help prior to booking

    Good luck

  2. My husband and I were on the Valor April 2005. It is a larger newer ship that has so much to offer. If you would like a specific critique of the ship or ports try a cruise website like cruiseaddicts.com or cruisecritics.com. You can get advice from experienced cruisers who love to share on anything including dining options, what to wear, and other great tips. Beware you may be hooked for life on cruising. I am. Have a great time and remember enjoyment is not included you have to pack it in your bags.

  3. We took that ship to the Western Caribbean last year. I didn't like it as well as our previous cruise to Eastern Caribbean on RCCL Navigator of the Seas.

The cruise director, Bret Alans wasn't very good. He was more interested in being a magician, than a cruise director.

I know they feed you like crazy on a cruise, but if you wanted a midnight snack, you had to go the whole way up to the pool deck for pizza. The band barely played at the pool and when they did it was obnoxiously load. They weren't even a Carribbean style band. I expected a steel drum at least.

The food in the dining room was great. The Rosie's cafeteria was good for lunch and dinner. We ate in the dining room one day for breakfast thinking we'd get a higher quality meal, but it was the same exact food as at Rosie's. It was very good, but it got a little redundant by the end of the week.

The pool is small and the hot tubs close at 9PM. The shows were ok. My aunt really loved the Broadway show. The comedians were pretty funny, especially if you stayed for the late night adults only show.

The daily drink specials on Carnival were "on the rocks" whereas on RCCL, they were frozen and better quality. The ship's decor is very busy (americana theme), but clean. They had breakdancers in the atrium. That was kind of cool.

The beds were VERY comfortable. I would suggest upgrading to a balcony, if you haven't already and if you can afford it. We did interior, but have booked a balcony for our next cruise.

Excursions were well organized and our tickets were waiting for us in the room. Their daily newsletter was well organized.

Carnival's port in Miami is dumpy compared to Royal Caribbean (RCCL). It rained on the day of our departure and embarkation was a nightmare.

I am not sure where that ship takes you in the East, but make sure to snorkel in teh Virgin Islands. It's beautiful. If you go to san juan. Visit el morro and old san juan on your own. You don't need to pay for a cruise ship excursion. It's all walkable, especially for young people. The older people in my group got a little tired, but they are in their 50s.

Please feel free to email me if you have any other specific questions. In short,  this is your first cruise, you will love the Valor. If you have taken RCCL before, you wil be a little disappointed, but you will still have a great time. Hopefully, they have a new cruise director and you don't have rain.
