I am going on a carnival cruise April 3rd what is a fun pass, and how do you sign up for the shore excursion?

You must do your on line check-in at least 2 weeks before departure.  At that time you may pre pay for your excursions.  I suggest you do this as soon as possible to be able to reserve the excurisons you want to experience.  If you are less than 2 weeks prior to sailing you may be locked out and will have to do your check in at the port.  However then you can reserve your excurisions at the pursers desk on the ship.

The fun pass is a peice of paper you can either print off of your computer or they will give you. You need it to get your room/everything else for the ship. You will turn it in before you board. It's like your paper ticket.

You can sign up for shore excursions online as soon as they open up, which in your case they should be. I would sign up as soon as you know what you want to do or you'll have to wait in line and take what's avail when your on the boat. There is a description of what each shore excursion is on the website and the price of each. HAVE FUN! :)
