I am looking for any tips about beach excursions for Cozumel or Belize? We just want to sun and swim..and the cruise line doesn't seem to offer that as an excursion..any ideas?

  1. In Coz, it's very easy to do a beach excursion on your own - provided you leave plenty of time to get back to the ship [they won't wait if you're late].

Just grab a cab and go to Chankanaab Park, or Paradise Beach, or Nachi Cocom, etc.  [Look for websites for these.]

In Belize, it's more difficult, as there are no beaches right there once you tender in, and the area around the port is "sketchy".  Your best bet is to do a ship excursion.  Some of them will pick you up right at the ship [so you don't have to tender into port] - Goff's Caye is nice.

Go to CruiseCritic.com, click on "Boards", then "Ports of Call", then your ports for lots of very reliable info from experienced cruisers.

  2. I did a similar cruise on RCCL's Navigator of the Seas in January.  In Cozumel we went to Chankanaab Park (spelling may be off) and that was a lot of fun.  We did it as an excursion from the ship, but I would almost recommend doing it on your own by renting a cab and have them drop you off.  I suggest this only because the first part of the excursion was at this place called Discover Mexico (maybe you can find that in your cruise documents) and all it was, was a video and a tour of a bunch of models of the Mayan pyrimids...kinda boring and it took up almost half the time of the excursion.  At Chankanaab there was snorkeling, restaurants, and beaches, as well as a dolphin swim (an additional cost of course) and the beaches were quite nice.

In Belize we just went over to the port and had a couple beers and went back to the ship because the port area was not so nice.  I did want to do the river tubing thing, but it was too last minute to plan it.  I was going to book through an independent company because the price was better, and the tour was better than what the ship offered.  The website I was going to go through was http://www.coralbreezetours.com/

Our cruise didn't go to Key West but I'm sure you could probably do the usual things there...the Southern most tip of the U.S., the Hemmingway House, etc.

    Hope this helped!

  3. if you can afford it and if they still offer it go cave tubing in belize best experience ever. 20 minute walk through a rainforest then an hour tubing through caves with a light on your head.

cozumel definitely go to the beach its one of the nicer beaches

  4. My wife and I went on a cruise that stopped in Belize.  I went on a fishing excursion and wasn't very impressed.  My wife went on a "snuba" excursion, a combination of scuba and snorkeling.  She loved it and recommends trying it.  Have a great trip!

  5. i believe there are beach excursions and those are fun. in Cozumel you should just shop or stay on the beach there. if you want to swim you have to Cruise pool which most cruises have 2 or 3 of so you'll get everything you are looking for if you read about the excursions they have you'll find one that fits what you want. (this coming from someone who has been on somewhere between 10-15 cruises).
