  1. I have been on 3 cruises in the month of july.  Actually, a cruise is great because if there are any hurricanes or bad weather, they just go someplace else and you dont have to cancel your trip.  Hurricanes are predictable, so they will know in advance.

On one of my cruises, we were on our way to the Virgin Islands, but a passenger got very sick, so we had to go to Puerto Rico instead (because it was closer and the passenger had to get to a hospital).  So never got to the Virgin Islands because there wasnt enough time.  Some people were really pissed, but when you buy your ticket, it says that destinations are subject to change due to weather or other unavoidable situations.  Who cares?? We had a ball in Puerto Rico.

MY point is, that if they feel it is unsafe to sail somewhere, you will go somplace else and have a great time!!  Dont worry, you'll be fine.

  2. I went on a cruise for my honeymoon last August, and I was worried about the same thing.  (I actually told my husband that I didn't want to do that because I didn't want to get stuck in a hurricane).  We were scheduled to go to Mexico.  However, on the day we were supposed to go there they were hit with a Class 4 hurricane (you might remember it from last year).  But luckily, it was no problem.  Our cruise just went to the Bahamas instead.  We didn't have to do anything.  So, I wouldn't worry too much.

Just in case, you should probably purchase the travel insurance that covers weather.  Just in case there is a hurricane that is at the port you are leaving from, then it will refund your airfare and stuff to get there.

But just relax and have fun on your cruise!

  3. I am living through my ninth hurricane season.  When there is any threat of bad weather in the area, the ships divert their course and go elsewhere, as they wouldn't be able to dock anyway. There is always warning of hurricane threats and those ships take no chances. Please don't worry, therefore. The worst that can befall you is that you are taken to a destination rather than the one on your itinerary. And even that doesn't often happen. Enjoy your cruise and, if you like, follow the weather on this. http://www.noaa.gov/
