I am going on my a trip to Guadalajara, Mexico in two days and I have a Verizon Wireless Phone.?

Would I be able to make and received calls to the US while I'm there? If not, what would be the best option for me out there? This will be only a once a year trip therefore I don't plan to purchase a new phone or plan. =) Thanks in advance!

Call verizon customer service...make sure they have coverage in Guadalajara, Mexico. If they do it's a simple process to update your phone..all u do is call a 3 digit number (verizon will give u the details) & cell phone is automatically updated...free of charge.

However calling USA from any foreign country on your cell phone is very expensive. Suggest buying a pre-paid phone card. Much cheaper & use a local telephone.

Probably. I went to Mexico City last year and my Alltel phone worked just fine. If you are taking a laptop with you consider getting a magicjack thingy for $40. This USB device will allow you to connect a standard phone to your computer and make calls from it when it is connected to a high-speed connection. The $40 price includes a US phone number and a years worth of service.

Call the company and see if they have intl. access to phones. If so, you will probably pay more, but my phone worked from Tmobile, but I had to call them before hand
