Would I be able to make and received calls to the US while I'm there? If not, what would be the best option for me out there? This will be only a once a year trip therefore I don't plan to purchase a new phone or plan. =) Thanks in advance!

  1. Call verizon customer service...make sure they have coverage in Guadalajara, Mexico. If they do it's a simple process to update your phone..all u do is call a 3 digit number (verizon will give u the details) & cell phone is automatically updated...free of charge.

However calling USA from any foreign country on your cell phone is very expensive. Suggest buying a pre-paid phone card. Much cheaper & use a local telephone.

  2. Probably. I went to Mexico City last year and my Alltel phone worked just fine. If you are taking a laptop with you consider getting a magicjack thingy for $40. This USB device will allow you to connect a standard phone to your computer and make calls from it when it is connected to a high-speed connection. The $40 price includes a US phone number and a years worth of service.

  3. Call the company and see if they have intl. access to phones. If so, you will probably pay more, but my phone worked from Tmobile, but I had to call them before hand

  4. i had a similar problem when i travel for my holiday, but my problem was solve at http://wateen.notlong.com , the best plan i ever choose
