  1. Its a wonderful " get away" the beach is great, the resorts are great! The ruins are interesting to see, i suggest a day trip to any of the ruins. I have been to there many times! Have a good time!

  2. We just came back 2 weeks ago and stayed at a beautiful resort near Akumal called the Grand Serenis, anyways Akumal town is about a 10 min ride on a collectivo which is the van bus transportation, costs 20 peso which is about 2.00 if you like to snorkle the public beach there is wonderful, you snorkle with giant sea turtles the experience was almost spiritual.  And it is free if you have your own snorkle equipment. if not you can rent at one of the many dive shops at the beach.  We also went to a place called Xel-ha, it is an all inclusive snorkling park, has a huge lagoon, a river to float down, lots of shops and restaurants, you can spend the whole day there.  Cost is about 70.00, that includes all snorkle equipment, all food, all drinks including alcoholic beverages, miles of gorgeous jungle to explore, you can also see the dolphins or book to swim with them but that is extra.  We loved it there and enjoyed the whole day.  Do bring 20.00 deposit to put on your snorkle gear which is returned when you return the gear.  We also took the collectivo to Tulum and saw the Ruins they are amazing and a must see.  Other things we will do next time is snorkle the cenotes and the underground river.  And I would take more time to shop Playa del carmen on 5th ave.  Also can take a ferry over to Cozumal.  Hope that helps.

Swim with the dolphins, explore the Mayan ruins (Chichen Itza), go on a boat excursion to snorkel the coral reef in Puerto Morelos. Go clubbing, shopping, tanning and just total relax.

enjoy and have a great trip)

  4. Depends what you want to do, and where you will be staying? How good is your Spanish? If it's good enough to get a ticket at the bus station, regardless of where you are staying, you can go pretty much anywhere. I would check out Playa del Carmen for sure. It's a nice small city with nice beaches, and european architecture. It's also where you can take the ferry to Cozumel. There are ruins all over the place down there, notable spots are Tulum, and Chichen Itza. Cancun is cool to check out for a night for the partying, there is a club there called The City. A girl that worked at a hotel told me it's the third biggest club in the world. I'm not much of a dancer, but it was still cool there. Cancun is probably the most American city in Mexico, so don't waste too much time there. Merida is a larger city, but I've never been there, but heard there is a lot to do there. Anyway, cheers and good luck with your trip.
