I am going to Canada on greyhound bus and I was wondering if....?

I am going to Canada from the United States..I am traveling on a greyhound bus..I was wondering if I needed a passport or anything to cross the border...could you please let me know anything I have to know about crossing into canada/crossing back over when I come back? thanks!!

  1. As of the URL below, it is not required for US citizens to have a passport to enter/return from Canada but you will need some other forms of identification to serve as proof of American citizenship...i.e. birth certificate, US driver's license, certificate of citizenship/naturalization.  If you have a passport, that would be the easiest form of ID you can bring.  That will help you through the processing much easier when you cross the border.


  2. Your question brought back wonderfu memories for me. After I graduated from High school in 1969, I spent several weeks travelling the US on a greyhound bus....had some memorable experiences and saw some breathtaking scenery, and....got on and off as I wished for 30 days.

  4. 9/11 changed everything. Get a passport as it will be soon required to cross the border,  if it hasn't been implemented already.
