I am going to Canada this Friday August 29, 2008 I was wondering the requirements of the passport situation?

We are traveling by land and i need some answers please and thank you!

What do you mean by passport situation?

If you're just visiting, all you need is a passport that is still valid (id not expired) for everyone who is going.

My family drove to Canada (to Ottawa from Maryland) and at the border, they checked all of our passports, asked where we were from, where we were going, and if we were transporting anything alcoholic. That was it.

if your an american resident you need government issued photo ID and your birth certificate or proof of residency

as of june 2009 you will need a passport

If going by air you need a passport...driving in you only need ID but that will be changing in the near future

You do need a passport card.
