  1. There are quite a few in that area...A-Basin, Breck, Keystone, Copper, Vail, and Bever Creek are all pretty close.  I cant say that I would recommend any of them, Im not a big fan (Winter Park is my mountain,)  but Keystone is probably my favorite out of the bunch.  Vail is OK, but its too d**n big.  Beaver Creek is pretty cool too.

  2. Copper Mountain.

  3. In this area there are plenty of areas to ski. This ski area is know as Summit County & has some of the best skiing in Colorado with so many resorts close by. You can ski Breckenridge, A-Basin or Keystone from Dillon, CO & there's a free shuttle that will pick you up & drop you off each day you ski. In fact, you can buy one ski pass that's good at any one of these three areas. There are also two other close ski areas & they are Copper Mountain & Loveland. I'm sure if the same shuttle drops you off at these areas but there only a few miles from Dillon, CO. Check with your hotel & they will tell you about the free shuttle. Also, I've skied Breckenridge & it's about the best area, so are Copper Mountain & Keystone. A-Basin is much smaller & it's almost all expert skiing. Loveland is great but it's at a much higher elevation & it's colder & can be windy. Have Fun!!!

  4. I use to live there. First lots of water...keep alcohol libation to a minimum...high altitude sickness can take you out of the game. There is public transportation that will take you to most of the resorts in the area. There is a pass for all the mountains. Try the Mexican food cheap and good...on weekends lots of music and dancing to be found. A-basin mostly expert, Keystone all levels, Breckenridge blue and blacks, Copper blues and blacks..B lift is nice, Vail just get to the back side and stay. Lots of choices close by. One of the best areas with all the choices. HAVE FUN!!! Take a snowmobile ride in Breckenridge...thru the woods and to the old silver mines.

  5. I always enjoyed Keyston because it seems to have more of a variety of ski runs. Breckenridge isn't too bad. Arapaho Basin seems to be more for intermediate to advanced skiers. Haven't been to Copper Mountain. I know Keystone had night skiing at one time.

  6. Ah..... Dillon. Beautiful Lake Area, by Frisco. Anyways, it is around 5 minutes to Copper Mountain, which is ok, if you like the new school movement. However, Breckenridge, which is 20 minutes away, is a lot nicer for everything. Good Luck!

    Hope this helps!

  7. I've only skied at A-Basin, as far as Summit County resorts go. I rather enjoyed it, but it is more geared for experienced skiers. It's a no frills resort too....again, something I like. I go there for the terrain. The altitude can be something else. The lift dumps you out around 12,000 feet...so if you go there, I wouldn't do it on your first day unless you already live at a higher elevation to begin with.

  8. Breckenridge!!  Keystone!!!  I stayed in Dillon for a weekend a couple years ago that those are the places I went to.  I liked Keystone a bit more, but I think it's really just a personal preferance.  Check out their websites for information...

  9. copper colorado

    15 min away

    vail 25 min away

  10. Good snow and getting more now. See the URL below.

  11. Copper Mountain. Or Keystone.

  12. Keystone is a good mountain but the base amenities are a pain to deal with.  Not very well organized. Lots of walking.

Breck is a great town but it's difficult to switch from one mountain to another.  You spend forever going from one lift to another.

It's been awhile since I've been to A-Basin.  It's smaller and geared for advanced skiers as I recall.

Copper is my fav.  The base areas are compact, easy to negotiate.  The mountain is well organized.  Greens to the right, blacks to the left.  If you ski black, avoid the crowds by skiing the Super B lift and Copper Bowl.
