  1. Almost certainly - your insurance will probably be for just UK use at the moment.

  2. Inform your insurance company to be sure you are covered.  Not sure if you still need a green card, took ours to Belguim 3 years ago seem to think they said you no longer need green card.  Best to check to be sure

    Have a lovely time

  3. Yes you do need to inform your insurance company that you will be driving in France during the period from----- till you're back to the UK.

  4. Yes

  5. You will need to inform your insurance provider who will issue you with a green card. Usually they will issue this free of charge for a period of ninety days although some insurers are now charging for the additional cover.

I would also contact one of the motoring organisations ie; A.A. or RAC to find out what additional laws apply in France ,as I seem to remember that you need to carry a spare set of light bulbs.

  6. 1, check your policy, most already cover you for european travel, if it does there is NO NEED to tell them your travel plans. If not, ask them to arrange your cover for you. Green cards went out years ago

    2. you will have carry- at all times - originals of all UK documents, including registration document and part 2 of your driving licence

    3. it is compulsory in France to carry a spare bulb kit, warning triangle and refelctive jacket. The jacket MUST be in the passenger area of the car

    4. if your number plate is not an EU plate you require a GB sticker

    5. if you break down on the 'payage' there is a cumpulsory tow off feee that currently is a minimum €163, so have a visa card handy just in case

    6. if you do not have a French made car suggest you get 'temporary' breakdown cover. All French garages will reapair all French cars, but Fords, Vauxhalls etc will almost certainly have to go to a dealer, expensive if you have to pay yourself.

    7. French roads are pretty good compared to UK, just come over and enjoy them

  7. Yes - phone your insurance company - they need to be informed if you are driving abroad - you may have to pay an additional charge. Dont forget to take your insurance documaents with you when you go!

  8. You can take your car to France with your existing insurance but you will only have the basic cover required by law. If you want comprehensive cover then you must update your policy and pay a few pounds more.
