  1. only if u come back before then

  2. not really..you need at least three to six months on a passport as what happens if you get ill!

  3. Many countries require 6 months left on the passport.  Check w/ nearest french counsulate.

Airlines can be stinky about this - and they are your first barrier.

So call your airline, too.   Get the person's name and extension in case you have a problem at the desk.

  4. no.  Generally, you passport must be valid at least 6 months from your return date...just in case you feel the need to extend your vacation.

  5. If you are American, Canadian, British or from any other country not requiring a short stay visa, you are fine as long as you return by February 26th, 2008.

If you come from a country that requires a visa, you are in trouble. Here is what the consulate of France in Vancouver says (what it says about Canadians applies to Americans too if you are American, I just couldn't find the text in English elsewhere):

"The rule requiring the passport to be valid a minimum of 3 more months after the end of the trip applies only to nationalities that are not exempted from requesting a short stay visa before departure and therefore does not apply to Canadian citizens.

Canadian citizens can stay in France until the expiry date of their passports as long as they do not engage in any activity other than tourism or business and do not exceed the number of days allowed to stay in the country without visa."

Here is the list of countries exempted from needing a short-stay visa, so if you are a national of one of these countries, you are fine as long as you are going there for tourism or business: http://www.consulfrance-vancouver.org/vi...

  6. Yeah!!! As long as your coming back before it runs out !!

  7. maybe for a day visit, otherwise they might block you, ring and find out

  8. you really should update it incase there are any delays, you should always have at least a year left on your passport before traveling to another country

  9. It all depends on the length of your stay.  You cannot travel with an expired passport.  Gotta get it renewed.  IF in the US this process has been shortened greatly since the new restrictions came into play.

  10. Being a frequent  traveller I once made  two trips to Spain and one to France with only 6 weeks left on my passport without a hitch although a travel agent where I booked a flight kicked up a fuss before backing off. The real answer is, one should have around 6 months  before expiry  but I doubt very much you will encounter any problems within the EEC.

  11. fine

  12. It depends on whether you are a British citizen. If you are, then you can travel to and from France up to and including the date of expiry. Travel within the EU for the British only requires a valid unexpired passport.

If you are not British or an EU citizen, it then depends on what citizenship you hold. I would advise speaking to the nearest French embassy,

  13. Yes if you're traveling back before then

  14. I was told that you had to have 6 weeks on your passport before you travelled.  What if something happens while you are out there, and you can't get back on time.  You will have a load of bother, with no valid passport.  You should have thought about this before now, and went through the right chanels, instead of an internet site.

  15. You will very likely run into trouble.

The normal short stay visa granted at the point of entry (airport etc) is for 90 days. But since your passport will expire before that 90 days expires they will not be able to do this.

The result will be, at minimum, a major fuss by the passport control officer.
