This summer I am going to India for tours. I have a laptop and a charger. Are the Plugs/outlets the same? If not, are there any converters to convert the the plug style from India's to American? Is there anything else that can be convenience to me?

  1. I agree with wires completely .  You need  a converter

  2. The sockets are different and the voltage is different as well.  India uses 220 volts, 50 Hz as opposed to 120 volts, 60 Hz in America.  But your laptop will probably handle the voltage difference, most do.  Look on the charger.  It should say what voltages it can handle.  It will probably say something like 110 to 240 VAC, 50 - 60 Hz.  If so, all you need is an adapter so you can plug in.  For other electrical devices you may need a voltage converter as well as a plug adapter.  A converter can change the 220 VAC to 110 VAC.  They're available at a wide variety of stores.  Travel stores have them, Radio Shack, and most stores with a luggage section will have them.
