  1. This made me smile I think you will have to go to the Indian high commission in the stand in London (if you are in GB) I did this last year It was an eye opener to say the least. I got there an hour before it opened the queue was round the block and down the street. Then when you get in 2 hours latter the bureaucracy was mind boggling queue here, go to this window get a stamp here. Then you have to wait or come back much latter to get your passport. I would NEVER post my passport to this place. Getting a new visa has put me off going back to India. Got there at 8am got visa and passport at about 2pm. But i did have a great trip.

  2. I printed mine off from the internet, filled it in using a black pen and posted it to the Indian embassy in London with my passport, it returned about 8 days later. The visa is stuck into your passport.

I know it's a little daunting sending your passport by post but as long as you do it by special delivery and remember to include the photos of yourself and so forth you'll be fine.

    Have a great holiday.

Where abouts are you going ?

  3. Can be done hand written i think also. I do believe i filled up my baby's POI (person of Indian origin) form by hand.

  4. best thing to do is to go to the closest indian embassy abd you'll get it on the day, i went to the london embassy then flew to india on the same day

  5. Hi,

I went to India last January (2008) and got my visa via a visa specialist in Birmingham. They have the forms to either do online or download and fill in by hand. You send it to them with a small fee and they do all the queueing at the embassys etc. and you get it back quickly.

I would recommend this service and will be using them again.

Good luck and enjoy your trip.

  6. Hi, its all change for visa,s for india, you can no longer fill in the form and go to the embassy, we use a visa service have just filled in forms ready to post,   go here www.indian-visa.co.uk  on first page click on tourist visa, its got the prices on there also, good luck

  7. You can't get it from the Indian High Commission anymore - only via vfs or an agent. It's a pain - I used to enjoy my visa run very year!

  8. You can get visa form on-line from Indian Embassy site The best place to send your application form is the Birmingham Office. Do leave plenty of time though around September as it is coming up to the busy period.  You will have to pay by Postal Order not cheque all details on the form.I have been to India nine times and never had a problem getting my visa. If you take your forms to the Post Office for a small fee they will check you have filled in forms correctly and advise you
