  1. Hi, I live in Italy.  Well, it depends.  You will be staying in Florence which is a large city and used to tourists and seeing a lot of things, so you shouldn't have a problem.  I know some Italians who make fun of g**s, but at the end they have the mentality of, "if you are an adult and not harming anyone you can do whatever you please".  Most Italians could care less if you are g*y or not.  I've never heard of a g*y being killed or anything like that like I did when I was living in the States!  =(  Like I said before, you will be staying in a large city, so I'm certain there are a lot of g*y bars and clubs you can go to.  The older folk might stare, but the younger generation probably wouldn't care.  Okay, have a nice trip...I'm sure you will love Italia.

  2. In Italy it's very popular and commonly practised the old saying "Vivi e lascia vivere " that's in English "Live and let live". Italian's attitude towards homosexuality is of absolute tolerance unless someone breaks the decency's rules.

Of course also here there are exceptions and a g*y or a L*****n might have troubles exactly as hetero, straight people may have everywhere in this world.

  3. I'm sure that you can find many to 'smoke"!

  4. I live in Rome, and I can tell you that Italians are tolerant and not at alla racists. However, even though you may find quite a few friends, be careful not to show too much your homosexuality in public; some people might be bothered by it and perhaps you could get into some trouble. Trust me. Bye.

  5. Cool, really cool.  If you get the chance though make sure you stop in, in St, Troupe (France) while you are in the neighborhood.  It's better than Provicetown, MA or Key West FL.  Bon Voyage, and send post cards !

  6. One of my g*y friends says that Italy is one of the most g*y friendly cities he has ever been to. He keeps going back. I also heard from other people that rainbow flags, etc are everywhere. I would say that Italians have an open, positive attitude to homosexuality. Have fun! Wish I was going.

  7. don't worry...florence is the most g*y-friendly town...because the people of florence is intelligent, kind....

  8. Hi!! I'm italian....I live in Venice....i think my nation is very close....but in big city like Florence, Rome or Milan...people are open to homosexuals....i hope u'll have fun!!! Bye!!

  9. Olive oil is very popular in Italy.

  10. When I visited Italy I noticed there were a lot of LGBT bars and so on, and no-one seems to make any fuss, very similar to my home town (Sydney, Australia).

But I would still suggest that you be discreet unless you are with people you trust ~ announcing you are g*y to just anyone could attract trouble, as there are homophobes and idiots everywhere, unfortunately.

Have a great visit, Florence is so beautiful!

    Cheers :-)

  11. I live in Italy and I say you that: in Italy there is a lot of racism, there are many people who don't  like g**s. But Florence is the most sympathetic city of Italy, I love florence's citizens. Then, Florence is beautiful! bye

  12. Florence center city will be fine... the hinterlands may be a bit traditional. Bologna city is probably tops, Venice isn't a problem and Milan is cool. Many urban centers are very liberal... it's the periphery of the cities where you'll find the small town provincial mentality.
