  1. No they make the ice with the same water they tell you not to drink

  2. If you are staying at a resort the maske ice from there filter system.  Ask.  A regular bar you maybe in trouble.

  3. very safe. dont worry. and i suggest only taking in consideration answers from ppl who are from mexico and know what they are talking about. I am from mexico so i should know. I hope you have a great time and dont listen to ppl who probably dont know what they are talking about.

  4. Many of the hotels in Mexico now use distilled water, so you need to check. When you are outside your hotel, the best way to remember it is anything that is washed in water, such as fruits and vegetables, or anything that has water in it, like coffee or drink mixes, are things you don't want to have. Stick to bottled water, and make sure you open it yourself. I followed all these guides every time I go to Mexico, and I still got sick once. If you want to have a good time, just be careful. Mexico is a lot of fun. Have a great time.

  5. In Mexico, the law states that all ice cubes must be made with "good" water. However, ice cubes made from "bad" water are just as unsafe as the water itself and you probably won't always know where your ice came from. I'd be very cautious.

  6. You are going to a tourist resort , right?  The ice and drinking water served in tourist resorts , and for that matter in restaurants, is made from bottled water.  I live in Mexico...in a non-touristy area.  ALL restaurants use bottled water for cooking, serving and making ice.  There is NO WAY a big tourist resort or restaurant is going to serve unsafe water or ice...they are not stupid.  This business of instilling FEAR in everyone about water and ice in Mexico is out of proportion and many people who answer do not know what they are talking about.  If you travel to rural or remote regions, of  course, be sure you drink bottled water.  And , of course, if you are still concerned about the water or ice in an establishment, just ASK!

  7. Charlie is correct. The ice here is safe. The water in Mexico, in most areas is not 'unsafe'. The problem is, all water has bacteria. There is bacteria in the water where you live, trust me. But if you drink un purified water here you will get different bacteria than what you are used to. If you drink purified water, or ice from purified water (As in almost ANY place in Mexico) you will have no problem.

  8. It is safe.

Here in Mexico ice cubes are sold, there are in fact several companies selling ice cubes; just as the water. The ice cubes are done with purified water.

Don't be so worry and enjoy. Just wash your hands before eating and after going to the bathroom (as in any place).
